Hi All,
First off I am new here, so Hi again
I have a small problem getting Microsoft Outlook 2001 to use my 2003 Exchange server. I have to admit I am new to macs and am finding it a little hard to do anything but I am trying.
From what I can tell is that for some reason my the mac will not resolve the server name to an ip address. I mean when I look in the Outlook settings, under services --> properties if I place the servers IP address there and then the user name and then 'check the name' it resolves the name of the server and under lines the user name (which as far as I am concerned has worked).
Yet when I then launch Outlook I get a message saying folders could not be opened. The attempt to log on to the server failed..... Microdoft Outlook could not be started. The attempt to log on to the MS Exchange Server failed....................
What I have done so far:-
Updated the /etc/hosts file and added the ip address for the server (can ping both IP and name from the console and network util)
When in Outlook settings --> properties and user the server name instead of the IP address and try and check name I get an error.. The name could not be resolved. Network problems are preventing connection to the MS Exchange Server, Contact your system adminsitrator (me).
Sorry for the long post but this is a real problem. Any help would be much appreciated.
Ian
PS The only thing I can sort of think of at the moment is that Outlook starts I think in classic mode??? I am not sure if this starts a new shell and therefore ignores the /etc/hosts file and that is the reason why it can not resolve the server name. If I am right my next question would be where is the hosts file for the classic enviroment??

One of several in rotation. I use SnowTunes for the dark menubar (among other things), DarkDock for the dark dock :p, and Float for the indicators. Bowtie provides the album artwork, and I have a matching Adium theme that I just hid so I didn't have to go in and blur out the names.

NVIDIA 6600 GT/256MB VRAM
First Christmas present for this year; got it yesterday. It has Tiger which means it isnt compatible with ANYTHING but I should be able to get Leopard soon.
BTW; Does anyone know of any Twitter clients that are compatible with PowerPC 10.4-based Macs? Thankss. :)

Guys.
by seeing the results of the poll, we can see that majority of voters won't buy the new iPhone 4 in white. It is based on around 3200 votes.
I am not an expert analyst or anything like that, but let me say this now, when the white iPhone 4 launches on April 27th, it is going to be chaos and out of stock because there are TONS of demands of this phone I dont know why. Same thing goes with the iPad 1 and the white iPad 2, people are saying that iPad 1 was just a bigger iPod touch, and the white iPad 2 was ugly and terrible-looking. But see now, TONS of people decided to choose white iPad 2 instead of the black one.
Typical Apple fan. They vote no, and when they finally see in person, they can't resist to buy one even if they have a black iPhone 4.
For me personally, I have the original iPhone 4 in black that I bought back in June last year and I am looking to upgrade to the white iPhone 4 and sell the black one.
Just an opinion though

Get a $100 inkjet cd/dvd printer. I use the Epson R320 (has a few more bells and whistles). You can Google images and print just about any kind of image on your discs. They look GREAT!
Generic ink is about $15 for a complete set! Doesn't look the best for photos but works fine for labels.
Thanks for the tips. Still, Lightscribe or Labelflash or equivalent would be a nice feature, especially in a notebook computer. If you're out and about with your notebook and you want to burn a disc, it'd be convenient to be able to just burn a few words on to the disc rather than bothering with printers, inks, labels, markers, etc.

That's horrible. Definitely not death penalty material. Actually, it's not even life in prison material.
Why not? We have been told that his actions may have endangered or caused the deaths of important operatives. If that is the case, why should it not be a capital crime?

I live in Maryland in what is considered the metropolitan Washington DC area; and I have been an AT&T customer since, wow - forever. I moved to AT&T from Sprint, and I couldn't be any happier with the customer service, pricing, call quality, and consistency with their network. When the iPhone 3G came out, I switched to it from a Samsung Blackjack 2. Since my company didn't support the iPhone, I was able to find a workaround using google. Well, about a year or so ago, my company's IT department decided to do something with the security which precluded me from further use of my eхploit, so I was forced to get a company-provided Blackberry Tour using Verizon - a day that shall live in infamy. It was extremely slow; I experienced drop call at a rate much higher than with AT&T, and I was so frustrated at the fact that I couldn't do anything else, such as search the web, while I was on a call. So I ends up carrying two phones. One to check work email and calendar, and my AT&T iPhone for everything else.
Well, I am pleased to say that my company know uses Google Apps (yeeeessss), and I am back down to one phone. But the reason for my post is to get a sense of whiter or not the complaints I hear about AT&T are regional. I rarely experience dropped calls; their network is really fast (faster than our guest provided wifi at work), and I can browse the web while on the phone with my wife (she is still with sprint). I was troubled at the most recent cover of Consumer Reports vis-a-vis their analysis of carries. On it it states "Sorry AT&T, or something to that effect..By the way, a majority of the people at work complain about Verizon, which prompted us to go to a stipend program for those of us the require to have a smart phone. So is service regional, and xo those folks living in areas of the country with limited AT&T technology have the loudest bark?

6 posts per day adds up to a lot if you keep it up for five years straight
i am at just under 4 1/2 posts per day and in my 5th year here, i am approaching 7500 total posts...i hope that makes me a "602" :)
I don't think there ever was a ppc 602 processor... at least in a mac. Am I wrong? 601, 603e and 604 (SWEET!).

I wonder how many of these posts are trolls? I haven't had any issues whatsoever with 4.3.1. I also didn't have any problems with 4.3; battery life has been absolutely stellar and call performance actually improved in 4.3.1.
Battery life was atrocious for me on 4.3, but 4.3.1 completely fixed it. I get the "Call Failed" message sometimes too, but only about 5% of the time.

I downloaded the Windows XP/Vista/7/2003/2008 Console client version #6.23.
It didn't recognize the -bigadv option, but the client I have has a -advmethod option. Also, when using the -smp option I get an error message saying that "mpiexec is not recognized".
I'll run a few more using a single core each and try to make some sense of this in the morning. (And it's all for a good cause, right...) :) :)
