Gizmodo reports (http://gizmodo.com/5370493/apple-genius-bar-iphones-30-call-drop-is-normal-in-new-york) that one of its readers recently visited the Genius Bar at the SoHo Apple retail store (http://www.apple.com/retail/soho/) in New York City complaining that 30% of his attempted calls were being dropped, and was informed after testing that such performance was considered normal by AT&T's standards for the area. The reader provided Gizmodo with a copy of the Genius Bar work authorization form noting the technician's assessment of the situation.AT&T has acknowledged that it has struggled with service performance in areas of high iPhone density such as the New York City and San Francisco Bay areas, and has recently taken steps (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/09/02/atandt-announces-850-mhz-3g-coverage-improvements-in-new-york-city-and-other-markets/) to enhance 3G service in those and other markets.

What if it's an actual Apple-branded TV? That's one of the latest rumors making the rounds, again :eek: Actually, if Apple did come out with their own HD (1080p) TV, I would be very interested in purchasing it. It would have TV built into it (of course), and therefore would be able to do everything TV can do, only without having to attach a set-top box to the TV. Additionally, since Apple is designing it, the new actual HDTV would be magical :D
I really don't see Apple making an HDTV, but I've been known to be wrong before (although I don't like to admit it :o).

Bought the white iPhone for the missus because she couldnt wait for iphone 5 and I cant tell the difference side by side with my black one. Even bought a bumper that was available before the white one was released, and guess what? The white iPhone slips in perfectly.

It's still the same story. The icons are still distinctive and easily identified by their outline, as per interface guidelines. The fact that they're on a consistent and unified "button bar" or "bubble" is simply an aesthetic decision. Safari and the Finder have worked in this fashion since the beginning and no one threw the "HIG book" at Apple for that.

Safari was the biggest abuse of the Metal UI going until they added it to Finder too. Metal is right for Quicktime, DVD Player and at a push iTunes if a little dated now.
Adding the Mail style buttons in Preview is just plain wrong, ugly, stupid, bad. If they do that OS wide, I'm skipping the upgrade until someone comes out with a tool like CageFighter to change the icons back like we got for Mail in Panther. If they persist with Aqua, Metal, Unified, Dark Unified and lord knows what else, I'm waiting for a port of UNO to Leopard. UNO has massively improved Tiger by banishing the metal and aqua stripes.
Also, the sidebar is a retrograde step too. The drawer in Preview can be resized without changing the size of the content in the main window. You can't do that with a sidebar. It's also white, unlike Mail's light blue. Wrong, wrong, bad, ugly, inconsistent and stupid.

Interesting, and good news--surprised it took this long. Although the quoted article seems to show a bit of a misunderstanding about how the mouse actually works--yes, some people aren't comfortable with the way it detects clicks, but it has to do with the touch sensors, not "fat buttons".

What doesn't Amazon sell? toilet paper, tampons, tooth paste, and it is worth 80 billion, when it should be worth 1 billion. It is an uninspired discounter, like online-Walmart.
On Amazon you can buy used comic books, used read softcover novels, used 10 year old PaperMate pens, it is like a giant flea market.
They need sales and prestige to keep up their scam.
High valuations should belong to high tech companies. Amazon says the Kindle is their heart, when it represents less than 0.1% of its sales.
On Amazon they sell fertilizer made from dung.
Apple is instead a high tech company. It makes money by selling high advanced technology.
Unlike Amazon, which has no research and development budget (how much research do you need to carry Q-tips and tampons?), Apple is not a scam. It is what it says it ism a high tech edge company. Amazon says the same, but it is sad flea market selling dirty used bird feeders.

It seems to me that Apple play games with their users, just a little bit.
Unless I'm mistaken, 1st gen MBP had 7200 HD option but no FW800.
This time the FW800 gets put back but the 7200 option is taken away, with the moral being "buy a 17" if you need both of these features">
I'm the same as one of the previous posters, for my audio app (Ableton Live) there's no way I'd splash that sort of cash on a MBP with a 5400 drive.
Oh well, if my PB gives up the ghost, I'll have to tgo for a 17" (which I don't wwant to do) or buy a PC. Failing that, Im a-waiting for Santa Rosa.

I would be greatly interested in this. Likely would not buy the first generation. It would aso depend on size and actual features. Ive been greatly disappointed in the revamp of the apple tv and am looking for apple to do more for my living room than this past pathetic attempt at ATV2.

I have both the white and black 32gb iPhone 4's next to me now. How anyone can say one feels immediately thicker than the other is beyond me lol.
I too have both white and black 32gb iPhone 4's in my possession (I'm going to sell the black soon), and I cannot tell any difference in size/weight/etc. :apple:

I wish I knew more about the fate of the white 4... I got a white 3G the day they came out, so you can imagine how frustrating it's been to have waited so long for the white 4 while able to upgrade anytime. Now we're just focused on the 5.
If the white 4 is gone, I will have waited months and months for a phone that won't be here. Then I won't be able to wait that long for the 5 to come because life with this 3G sucks (and I'm sick of paying the same 100 bucks a month for a slow old phone), so I'll get the black 4. Then I'll be way behind in upgrade ability when the 5 comes out.
K I'm done complaining. Carry on.

As a few others have said, the software is where it's at. Apple knows this. I dont think it really matters when they come out with another iPhone. They've got an amazing device with the iPhone 4 that can run pretty much anything normal people throw at it. If they can update the software to correct the few flaws it does have, it's going to be the perfect phone and the 5 will just further refine that. Everyone should really be focused on the conference in June.

If you look really closely, you can see there is no difference. White stands out more than black, so really what you're seeing is the front face of the phone adding to the width because of this two dimensional perspective. The front face of black iPhone is visible too, it just isn't noticeable in front of that background. Look closely.
